A great opportunity for an experienced Production Engineer to join a world class manufacturing company. The role will report directly to the Production Engineering Manager, working alongside the Design, CAM Programming & Manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities 

1. To support the Production Engineering team with associated functions to deliver multiply Production programmes
2. Creating and updating manufacturing routing and structures
3. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) both from a Design for Manufacture (DFM) perspective and operational performance
4. Design and implement jigs and fixtures for manufacturing operations
5. Create detailed 3D Models and 2D drawings. (BS8888)
6. Lead Design for manufacture (DFM) reviews on components alongside Design and Productions teams
7. Suggest reliable and cost-effective manufacturing methods from manufacturing drawings
8. Support the business improvement plans with lean techniques e.g., PFMEA, DFMEA
9. Liaise with both internal and external customers as required
10. Evaluate drawings for manufacturability, cost, and delivery targets
11. Deliver continuous improvement projects across the business
12. Create and update company work instructions / standards SOP’s 
13. Lead Make vs Buy exercises, evaluating most cost-effective processes 
14. Reviewing operation set and run times, standardising, and updating where required
15. Support the shop floor with manufacturing issues offering proactive solutions  
16. To carry out reasonable duties as requested by management

ROLE DETAILS

• Calibrate a range of hand equipment/gauges
• Document and organise calibration system
• To provide support for both existing and new business opportunities
• 1st Off inspection
• Operating & Programming CMM’s
• Identifying reoccurring quality issues and communicate them appropriately
• Check and verify the compliance of components produced at all stages within the business

Main Activities/tasks:

• Mechanical design & detailing of transmission gear & shaft assemblies and associated components.
• Responsible for identified transmission sub-system or component design as per allocation, ensuring subsystem / component designs meet target specifications / requirements
• Support the BOM generation for new product introductions
• Support DFMEA generation for transmission and driveline components
• Apply appropriate quality tools in the resolution of design issues
• Perform tolerance calculations/checking
• Perform design calculations (shaft strength/bearing/Synchronisers/Gears)
• Prepare, check 2D drawings for release
