Prototyping and Development All Under One Roof

Hewland's 4,454 sq m manufacturing facility allows us to develop and prototype powerful and sustainable solutions for a wide variety of vehicles, from high-performance track and road cars to 3.5 T electric delivery trucks, with no limit to our high volume capabilities through our mass volume facilities.

Our production equipment is uniquely suited to develop and prototype all major powertrain components fully in house, with 4 and 5-axis milling, spiral bevel grinding, in-house heat treatment and cryogenics, shot peening and superfinishing, gear grinding capable of producing gears to high-precision accuracy, meeting the ever increasing tolerance requirements on EV gears to provide optimised micro geometry.

Precision Gear Grinding

Utilising Kapp Gear Grinding we can provide precision ground gears to meet the tightest of tolerances. With the capability of producing DIN 4 gears in production, we enable our customers to achieve exceptional NVH levels in EV transmission designs.

Helical Shaping

Offering both external and internal helical shaping with recently increased capacity and the latest shaping manufacturing technology. Significant increase in demand for our proprietary planetary transmission design alongside customer solutions has seen significant developments in optimising helical-shaped gears, particularly in EV.

Bevel Grinding

Due to the significant investment made in Bevel manufacturing capabilities, we can offer high-precision soft and finish machining of Duplex Taper design spiral bevels for a variety of applications. The closed loop systems enable economical manufacture of gears up to 600mm diameter and quality to Din 4.

Gear Cutting

Operating a range of Gleason hobbing assets, we have developed a significant range of gear cutting manufacturing capabilities to ensure we can offer our customer a manufactured solution for most parallel axis gear requirements.
